Chapter 5: CHANGING COLOURS
“What did the Raven do to escape if the door was locked?” Amy cried with doubt in her voice.
“When the Raven realized his chance had come, he went to the water the greedy man was hoarding and swallowed all of it. He had to get it back to the people before they all died. With the door locked the only way out of the house was through the smoke hole in the roof,” Kadluk told the wide-eyed kids.
“Yes,” yelled Parker in his excitement, “the smoke hole! I had forgotten about the smoke hole in the roof.”
“The Raven just flew out the smoke hole?” Ty questioned looking at Kadluk.
“Normally that is what the Raven would have been able to do, but it got stuck in the hole because it was too big after swallowing all the stolen water,” Kadluk sadly relayed as he wrapped his arms around himself to simulate being stuck.
“Then, the Raven was still the greedy man’s prisoner? He didn‘t get away?” Ty asked Kadluk with a questioning look on his face.
“The Raven was stuck in the smoke hole with only its head sticking out. It knew it could not get through the smoke hole without getting rid of some of the water. When it opened its beak, the water ran forth and created lakes. The Raven had lost enough water to allow it to squeeze through the smoke hole.
